FarCry 5 will be set in a modern setting in the American West, where the main character will have to fight with a fanatic.

According to what has been shown, Ubisoft has brought to the fans three main messages: shooting, Hope Country and finally horror.

In addition to the shooter and trailer “Welcome to Hope Country”, the horror genre is a fairly new concept for the Far Cry game. However, you have wondered what horror properties in Far Cry 5 will be tapping from? If you have not guessed yet, please refer to the information below.

“The general thrust of this game is that it will take place in present day, and feature the protagonist taking on a Jim Jones or David Koresh-like religious cult in a small town in Montana that’s been populated by, essentially, Doomsday-preppers bent on furthering their cause. So, modern-day weaponry and modern-day vehicles, plus a hilly, mountainous backdrop”.

About Jim Jones and David Koresh, these two are known as the most dangerous heretics in American history.
James Warren Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was an American religious leader who was initiated for a mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. He believed in the correct social order in compliance with God’s will. Jones was ordained as a Disciples of Christ Pastor, and he achieved notoriety as the founder and leader of the Peoples Temple, which was often described as having cult-like qualities.

Jones started the People’s Temple in Indiana during the 1950s. He moved the Temple to California in the mid-1960s and gained notoriety with his activities in San Francisco in the early 1970s. He then relocated to Jonestown, Guyana.

In 1978, media reports surfaced that human rights abuses were taken place in Peoples Temple in Jonestown. United States Congressman Leo Ryan led a delegation into the commune to investigate what was going on; Ryan and others were murdered by gunfire while boarding a flight return with defectors. Jones subsequently committed a mass murder-suicide of 918 of his followers. Nearly three hundred children were murdered, almost all of them by cyanide poisoning via a Flavor Aid and Kool-Aid mix.

David Koresh (born Vernon Wayne Howell; August 17, 1959 – April 19, 1993) was the American leader of the Branch Davidians religious sect, believing himself to be its final prophet.

Koresh came from a dysfunctional family background and claimed to be a Christian in the Davidian Seventh-day Adventist, a reform movement led by Victor Houteff that arose from within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Koresh joined a spiritual group that was based at the Mount Carmel Center in Elk, Texas; the cult took the name “Branch Davidians”. Here he competed for dominance with another leader named George Roden, until Roden was jailed for murdering another rival. Koresh was then accused of statutory rape of a 12-year-old girl, apparently with her parents’ consent, a relationship that he sanctified as a ‘spiritual marriage’.

The serving of arrest and search warrants by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) as part of an investigation into illegal possession of firearms and explosives provoked the historic 1993 raid on the center. Four ATF agents and six Davidians were killed during the initial two-hour firefight, both sides claiming the other side fired first. The subsequent siege by the FBI ended when cult members burned the center, where Koresh and 79 others were found dead after the conflagration.

Ultimately, FarCry5-throwaway claims that FarCry 5 will have a modern setting in the western United States, where the main character will have to fight with a fanatic. This will probably make you think of Outlast II, the horror game just launched. However, rather than running away from Outlast, FarCry 5 will definitely feature Action, Shooter (an indispensable feature of this series).

According to the latest announcement from Ubisoft, the launch date of Far Cry 5 will be delayed 1 month. This means that Far Cry 5 will be released on March 27, 2018.
